Laser beams sweep the night sky

The sky was awash with colour at the weekend, thanks to powerful laser lights.

From Whitby Abbey, Scarborough Lighthouse, the Chalk Tower at Flamborough, Withernsea Lighthouse and the visitor centre at Spurn, the laser beams swept the sky to treat residents to a spectacular light show.

Organised by Yorkshire Coast BID, the laser beams were projected from landmarks down the Yorkshire coast for two hours last Friday and Saturday evenings.

Two laser transmitters were used in the grounds of Withernsea Lighthouse but because of the proximity of buildings, spectators had to be fairly close to observe the show.

There was a better view of the lasers down at Spurn where the lights were clearly visible from Easington and the Humber bank.

There will be another chance to see the lasers in action this Friday and Saturday, December 9 and 10, from 7pm to 9.30pm.
