A coffee morning held last Saturday was very special for those attending as they celebrated the birthday of one of their friends.
Peggy Eves, the oldest resident in Easington, attends the coffee mornings held in the village hall most Thursdays and Saturdays to meet up with her group of friends, the Evergreens, and last Saturday they marked her 104th birthday with cards, gifts and flowers.
Born in Skeffling, she has spent her life in South Holderness and has lived in Easington for many years. She married her husband Fred, a master gunner in the Army, whom she met during the war at a dance, and they went on to have three children.
Peggy also has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and is a keen gardener and churchgoer. In the past, she has enjoyed travelling, visiting many places around the world.
She is very well known and loved in the village and prides herself on being the eldest resident.
The Saturday coffee mornings have raised more than £1,100 during the past year in aid of local charities and organisations, and everyone is welcome to call in at the village hall between 9.30am and 11am, where they will be assured of a warm welcome and refreshments.
