Pat rewarded for years of service to village

by Ray Duffill

At the village coronation event held at the Nags Head in Preston, Ian Ireland, the chairman of Preston Parish Council, made a special presentation to Pat Ferguson on behalf of local residents.

The framed Residents’ Recognition Award was to acknowledge the work that Pat has done over many years with various village community groups, including the local school, the church, the Preston Traffic Group, and the Community Hall among many other activities. Ian said that this was “an award richly deserved”.

A barbecue to celebrate the King’s coronation was also held at the pub on Monday.

Geoff Catterick said: “Despite the poor weather this did not dampen the enjoyment for more than 400 people.

A variety of stalls and entertainment was provided together with an excellent barbecue.

“Thanks are due to Cranswick Country Foods for its sponsorship towards the cost of the event and also to Preston Parish Council.

“Thanks are also due to Mike and Marian Rouse and the staff at the Nags Head, and also to members of the Preston Village Community Group who staged the event.”
