Out-of-hours service boosts access to town’s library

Library Now, an out-of-hours library service, has been introduced at Hornsea Library and Customer Service Centre.

The service will allow East Riding Libraries members to access the library even when it is closed, to borrow and return books, use the free Wi-Fi, and access the public computers. Payment facilities will not be available.

Library Now is available to all library members aged 16 and over. There is no need to sign up – it is already included for members with a library card.

To access the service, all users will need their library card and unique PIN. They simply swipe their card on the entrance panel, enter their PIN, and enter the library.

Caroline Wilkinson, librarian for Hornsea Library and Customer Service Centre, said: “Library Now is a brilliant opportunity for the community to access the library space at a time that suits them.

“With the ability to use all of the self-service library facilities, just as when the library is open, it gives people a lot more freedom and means they can still enjoy a quiet space outside of normal opening hours.”

The opening times are:

Monday 9.30am to 4.30pm (Library Now 4.45pm to 9pm); Tuesday 12.30pm to 6.30pm (Library Now 6.45pm to 9pm); Wednesday closed, but Library Now available from 9.30am to 9pm; Thursday 9.30am to 1.30pm (Library Now 1.45pm to 9pm); Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm (Library Now 4.45pm to 8pm); Saturday 9.30am to 12.30pm (Library Now 12.45pm to 5pm); Sunday closed, but Library Now available from 9.30am to 5pm.

All East Riding Libraries are free to join. Members get access to thousands of titles, including free emagazines, audiobooks, ebooks and enewspapers to download anywhere, any time.
