Organisers of Withernsea’s Blue Light Weekend have presented their latest donation from the proceeds of last year’s inaugural event.
Last week, Withernsea RNLI was presented with a cheque for £500 to cover the costs of its training boat.
Blue Light Weekend has now donated nearly £5,000 from last August’s event – with more planned donations to emergency and lifesaving services after this year’s event, which will take place on August 10-11.
Held in memory of Withernsea RNLI’s former operations manager Steve Medcalf, it promises to be even bigger and better than last year, with a free Tier 2 airshow one of the main highlights of a packed two-day programme.
Withernsea RNLI’s operations manager Darren Hickey said: “We are so proud to support a great event that the Blue light Weekend is. The committee does a fantastic job and we are looking forward to being a part of it this summer.
“To receive this large donation is truly humbling and we cannot thank them enough.”
