Japanese car enthusiasts invited to Fuji Fest

by Rebecca Hannant

Withernsea will host a Japanese car show at the end of this month which will include a range of modern and classic cars.

Fuji Fest, hosted by Japanese car enthusiast group Team Fuji, will take place along Withernsea’s South Promenade near the Withernsea Boating Social Club on April 30 between 9am and 4.30pm.

Mike Pearson, one of the organisers at Team Fuji, said: “The club has been running in the local area since 2012 and is for owners of Japanese cars and vehicles. We’re a very friendly group and meet weekly at a pub in Hull. We are car enthusiasts, not boy racers – I don’t even think any of us could get away with being called boys any more, with most members in the mid-30 bracket.

“We have wanted to do an event for some years to allow members a place to display their cars in a nice environment. It is hard to get permission from places to be able to do this due to the nature of some other events which hold similar qualities and that are often attended by not so mature people, to put it politely.

“I emailed the local council, which has helped me put the event together and supported with gaining permissions from East Riding Council.”

People are welcome to join the event and display their own Japanese vehicles by using the link from the Team Fuji Facebook group.

Entrance is £5 and all profits from the event will be going to the RNLI. Drinks and snacks will also be provided on the day.
