Hornsea Carnival team to host fundraising race night

by Rebecca Hannant

The committee behind Hornsea Carnival are hosting an inaugural race night in a bid to raise money for this summer’s event.

On Saturday, May 4, the race night will take place at the Lounge in Newbegin, where attendees can place a bet on a total of nine races.

Doors will open at 7pm with the first race starting at 8pm.

There will be a total of nine races and attendees can place a minimum bet of £1 on each race. Horse sponsorship is available for £3, with the winning receiving a £10 Lounge voucher. Race sponsorship of £25 is also available.

The winner of race nine will also receive a special prize, and the night will conclude with a raffle.

Carnival chairman Iain Poole said: “Hornsea Carnival is fast approaching, and the team are gearing up with booking events, stallholders and raising funds to ensure the event continues to be the success it always has been.

“We have fingers crossed for some better weather, and to this end we are starting with some local fundraising events linked with amazing local businesses who are getting behind Hornsea Carnival – and one of our first is with the Lounge in Hornsea.

“Remember, if you would like to get behind Hornsea Carnival and support this event we are still looking for sponsors for this year’s Hornsea Carnival.

“We are always open to fundraising ideas, so if you have a suggestion, reach out to the team and let’s see what we can make happen.”
