Hall Garth Park will be buzzing with the sound of engines, live music and community spirit on Sunday, August 17, as the Hornsea Bike Show returns for another packed day of entertainment and fundraising.
Now under the management of Hornsea Events CIC, the show is being organised by a small but passionate team who are working hard to preserve the much-loved spirit of the event while building its future.
Rachael Charlton, one of the lead organisers, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response from the community and local businesses, and everything’s really coming together now. There are just eight weeks to go, and the countdown is well and truly under way.”
This year’s event will feature more than 50 stalls, showcasing traders, food vendors and bike-related retailers, with space still available for a small number of additional bike traders. Live music will run throughout the day, with Seaside FM broadcasting from the park and a strong line-up of local bands entertaining the crowds from midday.
Performers this year include Killer No Filla, 53 North, Statis Quo, Fools Arcade, Punky Munkeyz, and headline act Stikkyfingers – a Rolling Stones tribute band who will close the show with a high-energy set starting at 5pm.
“We’re keeping the format familiar because we know how much people enjoy it,” said Rachael. “It’s not about reinventing it – it’s about keeping it going and making sure everyone has a great day.”
The organising team is made up of Rachael, Alan and Gareth, with Rae and John providing vital support. Rae has been heavily involved in securing raffle and tombola prizes, as well as helping with social media promotion, while John is managing the event website. A wider circle of volunteers have also helped with distributing leaflets and collecting donations – but more help is still needed.
“We’d love more people to come forward and volunteer,” said Rachael. “Even if it’s just turning up on the day, we can find a role for them. The more volunteers we have, the less pressure it puts on those already helping.”
Fundraising is also crucial to the success of the event. Raffle tickets are now on sale from Rage Quit in Newbegin and online at hornseaevents.org, with proceeds going directly into staging the 2026 show. On the day, bucket collectors will also be out around the park encouraging visitors to donate what they can.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for local businesses, with banner advertising spots in the band area and at the bike entrances.
“It’s a great way to support the event and promote your business at the same time,” Rachael said.
Organisers are also inviting bike and trike groups to get in touch, particularly those planning ride-ins, so space can be allocated and the arrival can be properly showcased.
“It’s shaping up to be a brilliant day,” said Rachael. “If everyone gets behind it, we can keep the Hornsea Bike Show rolling for many more years to come.”
