Hedon fundraiser Mike Humphreys has added another remarkable feat to his growing list of extreme challenges – completing the Paris Marathon in ski boots.
Crossing the line in a gruelling six hours and 50 minutes, Mike, who is a personal trainer, said it was “probably the toughest thing I’ve ever done”.
He began suffering from blisters just four miles in, and battled on through painful ankle swelling and a knee injury.
Mike is continuing to raise awareness and funds for motor neurone disease, after losing his friend Carl Giblin to the condition in 2013. Another friend, Craig Eskrett, was diagnosed with MND in 2023.
Mike said: “It was one of the most painful experiences of my life,” he added. “But I kept going for Carl, Craig and the cause.”
Last month Mike became the first person ever to climb England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, wearing only Speedos and flip-flops, and before that he rode 1,000 miles to the Alps on a Raleigh Chopper bike.
Mike’s GoFundMe, which can be accessed via his Instagram @mikeyhumph, has raised more than £33,000, surpassing his £30,000 goal.
