Preston Family Show Day was a great success with hundreds of families enjoying the entertainment, charity fun stalls and other attractions.
The show was formally opened by Seaside FM presenter John Harding, who was welcomed to the show by Geoff Catterick of the Preston Village Community Group.
The show tent is the traditional annual focus of attention as was the case this year with the craft items, cookery, flowers, paintings and photography taking centre stage.
Judged the best exhibit of the day and taking the crown – literally – was Mary Wood. Her knitted and crocheted crown, made especially for the King’s Coronation, had taken her weeks to make and she was delighted with the certificates presented to her by Dave Hook.
Dave of Hedon Viewfinders photography club presented the certificates and trophies to the winners of all the classes except photography which were handed over by club judge Glenn Stallard.
Mike and Marian Rouse, licensees of the Nags Head in Preston, who offer the use of their land each year for the show, praised all the sponsors, but especially the main sponsor, Beal Homes.
Each year, the Preston Show raises funds for good causes and the organising Preston Village Community will announce the amounts raised and present cheques at a special night to be arranged soon.
