Exhibition explores region’s ‘unique character’

by Ray Duffill

Hedon Museum’s new exhibition is Beyond the End of the Line, a history of Holderness by Carol Osgerby.

Carol, the author of the Hull & East Yorkshire History Calendar on Facebook and speaker on Holderness history, said: “Hull is often described as the ‘end of the line’, but in that case, what is the land 15–25 miles to the east? The end of the earth, perhaps?

“Holderness is a strange, disappearing and reappearing place that has seen some unexpected visitors and fostered heroes and villains, radicals and rebels.

“This exhibition includes incidents of Holderness history, and details of its unique character.”

The HEY History Calendar is found at facebook.com/HEYhistorycalendar.

The exhibition is open at Hedon Museum every Saturday and Wednesday, 10am to 4pm, until Saturday, June 21.

The museum is in Hedon town centre, signposted from Watmough’s Arcade. You can also search for its entrance on the what3words mapping tool at caves.consoles.scorch.

Entry is free. Refreshments are available. Museum souvenirs and other items for sale are available at the exhibitions.
