A community-led arts and crafts shop in Withernsea has officially reopened after a refurbishment.
On Friday, February 7, local artists gathered at the Seaside Arts Space in Queen Street for the occasion. Guests included Withernsea mayor Cllr Ian Blackburn, who performed the ribbon-cutting.
The business had to close for a few weeks in January for some building work, so the volunteers decided to use the time to redecorate and rearrange the shop.
There is now more wall space for paintings and photographs and an easier-to-access central area showcasing the work of creative people in Withernsea and beyond. The venture also sells fossils found on Holderness beaches and hopes to run small group fossil hunts in the summer.
Seaside Arts Space, a social enterprise that opened a year ago, is also aiming to run a range of workshops including crochet, beading, painting and more in local venues soon.
The new-look shop will display and sell paintings, photography, jewellery, crafts, ceramics, knitted and crocheted goods, and other locally made art and craft items.
The shop will now be open on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm and every day during the school half-term holidays from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and noon to 4pm on Sunday, February 16.
