Hooked on Harmony is a new female-voice singing group that has a few spaces left for new members.
Launched in Hornsea a month ago by Jasmin deSylva, who set up her first Hooked on Harmony group in Bridlington last year, the new group offers a supportive environment to develop singing as an individual as well as harmony in an ensemble.
Jasmin, an occupational therapist and former Bollywood choreographer, has sung in choirs since the age of five. She brings a wealth of musical knowledge and singing technique to the group.
She established Hooked on Harmony because she believes in the therapeutic benefits of singing, especially singing in harmony with others.
The group is developing a repertoire of songs from musicals for a performance in September titled Sing! Musicals. They meet for two-hour rehearsals every Monday night at 7pm at St Nicholas Parish Hall in Newbegin.
The group is available for singers of all abilities.
One new member said: “There are many singing groups in and around Hornsea, from traditional choirs to community groups, but with creative warm-ups and movement, unique and exciting arrangements, and a passionate musical director in Jasmin, Hooked on Harmony offers a wonderful opportunity to enhance your singing ability and meet like-minded ladies.”
To find out more, email Jasmin at [email protected], find the group on Facebook, or visit hookedonharmony.org and register for a trial session.
