Chip shop makes top 10 takeaways shortlist

Whiteheads Fish and Chips says it is “thrilled” to have made it to the top 10 fish and chip takeaways in Britain at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.

Hosted by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), the inaugural awards ceremony will take place on February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

Geoff Whitehead said: “2022 is a momentous year for Whiteheads Fish and Chips, as we celebrate 25 years since we opened for business.

“The world may have changed, but the Whiteheads team is constant in our aim of serving the finest-quality fish and chips available in Britain. I am proud of our team and thank them and everyone who has helped us achieve a ‘top 10 takeaway’ position.

Andrew Crook, president at the NFFF, said: “It was a tricky job whittling down the top 20 to the top 10, but the chosen takeaways have demonstrated a clear reason as to why they are deserving of this accolade.

“All finalists should be extremely proud and our judges are looking forward to getting stuck into the next set of judging.”

The Takeaway of the Year category is sponsored by Pukka Pies, McWhinneys, Smales, VA Whitley, Friars Pride, Henry Colbecks and B D Signs.
