Entries are now open for the 2025 Blue Light Weekend Colour Run – and this year promises to be bigger, better and messier than ever.
The family-friendly event will return on Saturday, August 2, with up to 16 colour powder stations along Withernsea’s South Promenade, and more than 500 people expected to take part. New for this year are a custard pie station, foam station and a water cannon.
Organisers stress it is not a competition and people do not have to run – the event is open to all regardless of ability. Entry costs £5 for adults and £3 for children. Early bird sign-ups will also receive a free Colour Run T-shirt, thanks to sponsors Keyzo IT Solutions. Participants are urged to sign up as soon as possible, as the free shirts are only available while stocks last and will not be available to those signing up on the day.
For those who want a lasting reminder of the day, competitor medals as well as extra pouches of colour powder can be purchased via the Blue Light Weekend’s online shop. All items will be available for collection on the day from the event trailer on the promenade, next to the RNLI station. Tickets (printed or digital) will need to be shown to collect.
The Colour Run is one of many highlights of this summer’s Blue Light Weekend on August 2-3, which also features dramatic sea exercises, an air show, the raft race, World Mascot Championship and much more.
Tickets are also on sale for various fundraisers taking place in the run-up to the main event, including heat two of the Blue Light Weekend Pub Olympics, sponsored by the Gazette. Following a successful opening round at Withernsea Boating and Social Club, the second instalment will be at the Willows on Hollym Road on Friday, March 28.
Competitors can expect more fun and games such as an off eat quiz, Play Your Cards Right, Mascot Bingo and Mr and Mrs, as well as bonus rounds focused on local Withernsea knowledge. A £1 ticket includes access to the bonus prize rounds, with additional prize rounds available on the night for a further £1 each.
