Three local organisations have received donations from the Withernsea and District Lions Club to help their causes.
As a thank you for the safety cover provided at the Boxing Day Dip by lifeboat crew and coastguards, when more than 80 people plunged into the cold North Sea at the resort, Lion President John Earle presented cheques for £300 to representatives of Withernsea RNLI and the Coastguard Association, the benevolence arm of HM Coastguard.
Mr Earle also presented a cheque for £250 to Withernsea-based Churches Together, which covers five churches in the town, United Reformed, Methodist, St Matthew’s, Gateway and St Peter and St John Fisher.
This donation will be used to help fund a new gazebo to replace the one that was damaged last year.
