A Keyingham woman is gearing up for a fundraising 13-mile walk in honour of her late mother, who died with dementia last year.
Angela Hoe, 63, is taking on the challenge alongside her sister, Janette, in Whitby for Alzheimer’s Society after losing their mother, Shirley, 86, in November.
The trek will take walkers through the cobbled streets of the seaside town as well as Robin Hood’s Bay and part of the Cleveland Way coastal path.
Angela, who has lived in the area for more than 35 years, said: “It will be lovely to think of Mum while taking in the beautiful coastline – she always loved holidays by the sea.”
Angela has put on her walking boots around Keyingham, Withernsea and Spurn Point, supported by husband Tim, in preparation for the walk, which is taking place on July 12.
It is estimated around 982,000 people live with dementia in the UK – while more than a third of people with the condition do not have a diagnosis, according to Alzheimer’s Society.
Angela added: “The charity is very close to our hearts and it will be great to raise some money and awareness for such a worthwhile cause.”
