Village hall trustees look to pass baton to younger generation

The trustees of Seaton and Sigglesthorne Village Hall are hoping to retire soon and pass the baton to new, perhaps younger, people.

The hall has been in use for 85 years and served generations of local residents.

The committee has overseen major improvements, refurbishments and redecorating of the building, which has a large hall with a stage and another room with a bar.

The three cloakrooms have been renewed and the kitchen roof replaced and many new windows fitted.

The committee has also been planning to renew the kitchen.

After the huge setback of the pandemic, the trustees hope people will start booking the hall for parties, meetings, tabletop sales, dances, Christenings, wakes and many other events.

A spokeswoman said: “If you really care about your villages and helping to keep this valuable village hall asset alive and well, why not volunteer to join as a trustee or committee member?”
