Tickets selling fast for Blue Light Beatles gig

by Sam Hawcroft

Tickets are now on sale – and selling fast – for a concert to raise funds for this summer’s Blue Light Weekend in Withernsea.

Beatles Complete, who are the resident band at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club, will be presenting a night of Beatlemania at the Willows Club on Friday, July 26.

The band were the youngest-ever Beatles act to gain a residency at the Cavern, and they still perform there every Thursday and Saturday. Beatles Complete have performed at International Beatle Week for the past three years and this year are taking their show on a tour of UK theatres for the first time.

The gig will be raising vital funds for the Blue Light Weekend on August 10-11, which itself aims to raise money for local emergency and lifesaving services such as Withernsea RNLI, Hornsea Inshore Rescue and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Organisers said about half of the tickets had sold out within days of going on sale last Friday – in person at Precious Prints, in Queen Street, Withernsea, and online at bluelightweekend.com.

A spokesman said: “Tickets are selling really fast for this, so we’d urge people to book theirs soon to avoid missing out. We’re honoured that Beatles Complete – one of the leading Beatles acts in the country – have taken a night off from the Cavern Club and their busy tour schedule to come to Withernsea.”

As previously reported in the Gazette, this year’s Blue Light Weekend will feature a free Tier 2 air show – one of the largest in the North this year – including the RAF Typhoon display team, and more to be revealed soon.
