Success on the cards for Ryan

A youngster from Holderness Academy has been chosen as the winner of the East Riding Design a Card for the King’s Coronation competition.

On May 24 the school hosted His Majesty’s representative, the Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding, to present the Category Three (years seven to nine) winner of the contest.

Ryan M’s card was selected from more than 200 entries.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Jim Dick, said: “Judging was not an easy task. The winning cards chosen reflected both the Coronation and features of Hull and the East Riding.”

The card featuring the winning designs will shortly be sent to the King and the Queen congratulating them on their Coronation.

Ryan was joined by his parents and the runners-up from Holderness Academy, Evie, Sophie and Lauren. Both Ryan and the school were presented with a framed copy of his winning design.

They were also joined by Cllr Di Storr, the mayor of Hedon, on her first public engagement, and Lizann Lowson, the CEO of the Consortium Trust, of which Holderness Academy is part.
