Shores centre offers ‘winter warmer’ meals

by Rebecca Hannant

The Shores Centre in Withernsea is under way with its mission to provide hot meals to help people stay warm and nourished this winter.

Throughout January, the centre, in Seaside Road, has been providing people across the region with a range of Winter Warmer meals aimed at helping individuals have access to a cheap warm meal during the winter months.

For just £5, people can have access to a two-course meal. Previous offerings have included hunter’s chicken, homemade curry, vegetable soup, pies, sausage and mash, curry and roast dinners, with a choice of homemade soup or sponge pudding alongside the main meal.

Alex Camplin, representative of the Shores Centre, said: “We decided we wanted to provide a cheap hot meal option during the cold months.

“We do £5 main meal specials throughout the year, so it became a bit of a challenge to do two courses – and a brew – for the same cost. We want to provide low-cost good food to as many people as possible. We also want to encourage people to come and see what else the centre has to offer.”

The meals are available from Monday to Friday between 11.30am and 2.30pm and are available to everyone.
