East Riding Council is to hold a recruitment event for people who may be interested in working at the new Lelley Fields Crematorium, which is due to open early in 2023.
The crematorium, which is under construction near Preston, will be the council’s first owned and operated facility and, while the management positions have been filled, the council are looking for people to fill the roles of crematorium officers, operatives and caretakers.
Two recruitment events are due to take place on Monday, August 15, where people who are interested in the roles can speak to council staff to find out more about the crematorium project as well as more information about the jobs on offer.
An in-person event will take place between 6pm and 7pm at Preston Community Hall, 83a, Main Street, Preston, HU12 8SA but for those people who are unable to make that time, a webinar will be held earlier in the day between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Councillor Jonathan Owen, leader of East Riding Council, said: “The Lelley Fields crematorium will offer people a fitting and sensitive place to commemorate their loved ones.
“These jobs will offer a great opportunity for people who are passionate about providing the very best care and service to families at a time of loss, working with a team dedicated to supporting our local community.
“Candidates do not necessarily need to have worked in a crematorium before but we need individuals who bring empathy, tact, diplomacy and the ability to deliver outstanding customer care.
“We’re looking for people to share the council’s values and aspire to create a beautiful tranquil place which helps families and friends to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones in a positive and enriching way.
“I’d encourage anyone who is the slightest bit interested in the roles on offer to come along to either the in-person event or join the webinar to find out more.”
