Holderness Academy has raised £200 for a local Down Syndrome charity after a week-long schedule of activities and assemblies.
From Monday, March 17, Downright Special, which assists people in Hull and East Yorkshire who have Down Syndrome, delivered a schedule of assemblies where students learned more about living with Down Syndrome.
Students were given the opportunity to wear odd socks to mark the occasion.
Student Dylan, his brother Oliver, and his year head Miss Meek along with teaching assistant Miss Young raised more than £200 with their chocolate tombola.
A Holderness Academy spokeswoman said: “We have been immensely proud of the hard work, dedication and leadership Dylan showed to organise and advertise this event.”
Gillian Bowlas, Downright Special charity manager, said: “Dylan has done an amazing job helping to raise £200 for Downright Special on World Down Syndrome Day. We are all so proud of him.
“The donation will help us deliver our range of support to families in Hull and East Yorkshire. This includes specialist groups for babies and young children with Down Syndrome, an outreach education service supporting inclusion in schools and social events for all ages.”
