Plea for donations as young man with ‘gentle soul’ dies

by Rebecca Hannant

A crowdfunding page has been set up to raise funeral costs for a Hedon man who died suddenly at the age of 24.

Family friend Richard Wood described Lewis Dandy as a “gentle soul” who had learning difficulties and was a huge fan of Hull FC.

Lewis, who died from pancreatic necrosis, worked as a kitchen porter at the Kingstown pub in Hedon. Because of his sudden death at an early age, he had no money saved or insurance to cover the expense of his funeral.

His closest family and friends are calling on people to help give him a “respectful funeral”.

Richard added: “His death at 24 was a total shock and his family are devastated.

“I offer my deepest condolences and love for Lewis.”
