Party fun for care home residents

by Ray Duffill

Residents of Holyrood Care Home in Hedon let their hair down at their Christmas party last Monday.

With carols provided by children of Inmans Primary School and entertainment provided by the singing duo Two’s Company it was a really festive affair.

Hedon’s mayor, David Thompson, was a VIP guest and spent his time meeting and chatting to residents – those at the party, but also those elsewhere in the home who couldn’t attend.

Activities coordinator Trisha Martin, key organiser of the party, was keen to praise residents for contributing their thoughts and condolences earlier this year in a card to the then Prince Charles on the passing of the Queen. She was delighted to report that residents had received a reply from King Charles expressing his gratitude for their kind thoughts.

The message in the card, which features an old photo of Charles as a child with his mother, says: “It was so kind of you to send me such a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved mother. Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow.”
