A change of venue paid off for Keyingham’s Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Party last Sunday as more than £1,000 was raised.
For the past 16 years the party has been hosted by the Blackman family, Sandra, Paul and daughter Donna at their Northfield home, but this year saw a move for the event to the village hall after it got bigger each year. Donna has also taken charge of the tea party from her mother.
The bigger venue meant that more stalls could be accommodated, with local traders taking part, and weather is no longer an issue.
The Blooming Great Tea Party is an annual fundraising campaign in the UK where people are encouraged to host tea parties to raise money for the charity Marie Curie. These events can be large or small, formal or informal, and take place anytime, but often during a specific period such as late June. The money raised helps Marie Curie provide care and support to people living with terminal illnesses and their families.
The Blackmans are very grateful to everyone who attended, supported or donated to the day, especially the small band of helpers who turn up year after year to serve refreshments, bake and run stalls.
In total the grand sum of £1,025 was raised for the charity.
