South Holderness Countryside Society is holding a special event to celebrate new habitat work at its HQ in Hollym and other nature reserves it manages.
All are welcome to join a walk starting at Ivy House 1pm on Sunday, July 21.
Spokesman Andy Mason said: “We will have a look at how our new hedge is doing at Ivy House. “For the less mobile this is an opportunity to stay around the South Holderness Countryside Society base and really discover what wildlife wonders it has to offer.”
The walk will continue down to Toffling Hill, and then along South Carr Dales Road to Hollym Carrs Nature Reserve, a route of about three miles which will take about an hour-and-a-half to complete.
Members of the society will use the day to record whatever they see or hear and add it to their data on this part of South Holderness.
For younger children there will be a chance to do some pond-dipping, spotter sheets and other wildlife activities.
On returning to Ivy House around 4pm, walkers will have time to reflect on the day with a warm or cold drink.
If weather permits, the SHCC may organise a cook-out in the Ivy House grounds – people are asked to bring their own food and contact them beforehand at [email protected].
Parking is available near the gravel mound at the end of South Carr Dales Road, and the site is on a regular bus route.
Andy added: “Why not bring a friend and introduce them to this little haven? Meet our practical conservation gang. Bring a youngster to let them get their hands dirty.
“Please let us know if you are coming so we have an idea of the numbers. The day will be informal, and we are very much governed by the weather.
Bring suitable footwear and a waterproof jacket. Be prepared for any weather!”
