The latest instalment in Animated Objects Theatre Company’s Odyssey project will transform Withernsea’s Memorial Gardens into a magical land next month.
On the evening of Saturday, November 19, Land of Wonders will involve a trail suitable for families, with lanterns inspired by Odysseus’s adventures on his journey along the coast.
The event will feature a host of illuminations, an atmospheric musical soundtrack, and a specially designed lighting installation for the Pier Towers.
Animated Objects, which is based in Scarborough and recently attempted to build the world’s biggest cardboard structure for its Trojan Horse project at Bridlington Spa, will also be holding an informal lantern walk along the promenade from the Pier Towers to the RNLI station.
There will also be face painting in Valley Gardens during the evening.
Admission is free, and the event will be open to all members of the family. An average visit lasts between 10 and 25 minutes and will be open between 5pm and 8pm. Last admission is at 7.45pm.
Anyone who would like to join in with the lantern walk is asked to meet near the towers just before 6pm and bring a own battery-operated light (no naked flames).
The Odyssey – An Epic Adventure on the Yorkshire Coast, backed by Yorkshire Coast BID, is a futuristic retelling of the Trojan Wars set along the whole length of the Yorkshire coast. Previous instalments included the Survivor, a giant puppet that went on a tour of the coast in April and May.
