Richard Lusmore, the Gazette’s Easington correspondent and author of the acclaimed Hull City book Not All Ticket, is to hold a launch event for his eagerly awaited follow-up volume.
Special Attraction continues his account of following Hull City through the late 1980s and 1990s.
The new book, published by Pitch Publishing, begins with the appointment of Eddie Gray as manager in 1988 and covers a difficult decade that saw the club battling on the pitch and struggling for survival off it under chairman Martin Fish and manager Terry Dolan.
It will be launched at the Stags Head Inn at Lelley on Wednesday, November 12, at 8pm, where Richard will be joined by former City and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Alan Fettis. The evening will be hosted by broadcaster and fellow Tigers fan Matthew Rudd.
Alan, who has written the foreword, will take part in a Q&A and reflect on his time at Boothferry Park. He made 178 appearances for City, earned the first of his 25 full international caps while with the club, and is fondly remembered for twice stepping up to play as a striker and scoring both times.
The evening is expected to attract City supporters who will have the chance to pick up copies of the book, signed by both Richard and Alan. Les Motherby’s collection of matchworn City shirts from the era will also be on display.
The free event is not ticketed, but those wishing to attend are asked to phone the Stags Head Inn on 01482 891460 or message the pub via its Facebook page.
