Year nine students at Holderness Academy have donated a collection of items to Hedon Food Bank.
On Monday, March 1, the pupils handed over a number of tinned and packaged items to Anita Jewitt-Holder, a volunteer at the food bank.
The students collected the items after being inspired by year eight student Alfie Jewitt-Cross’s efforts to help the food bank with volunteering and fundraising.
Anita said: “The donation is gratefully accepted because stock is very low now. Alfie has been helping us raise money and buying stuff. I volunteer Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. I do the deliveries on a Monday.
“It’s something to give back to the community.
“It’s very surprising how many people need the food bank.”
Alfie added: “I am happy about the number of people who were happy to help.”
Sarah Rommell of Hedon Food Bank said: “The donation is fantastic. We would like to thank all those involved in organising the collection and those donating the food and toiletries.
“The donation is a real help, both to us and those who will receive it. We are very grateful.”
