Can you find the monsters hiding in shop windows?

by Rebecca Hannant

Animated Objects theatre company has returned to Hornsea ahead of the Land of the Cyclops event this weekend.

A bunch of the brightly coloured monsters have been hidden in shop windows around the town, decorated by children from Hornsea Primary, Hornsea Burton and Skipsea Primary schools, Parkview Day Nursery, and the painters at Crafty Shedders.

Dawn Dyson-Threadgold, creative director of Animated Objects, said: “We are really excited to be back in Hornsea with the Cyclops trail in the lead-up to Saturday’s Land of the Cyclops family arts event.

“It has been great to work with young people from the local schools, nursery and local communities to help decorate the trail and we would like to thank all the local businesses who have supported the project by hosting one of these colourful characters around Hornsea.”

On Saturday, April 29, from 11am to 2pm, the main Land of the Cyclops event will feature several free activities and entertainment for families in Hall Garth Park and Hornsea Town Hall.

On the day there will be storytelling performances with the Cloud Collector, a giant cyclops puppet on walkabout, face painting, balloon modelling, giant colouring and art activities.

Admission is free, and no booking is required. To view the trail map, visit animatedobjects.org/Odyssey.html.
