Bikers dig deep for combat charity

By Terry Bearpark

Bikers are well known for their generosity in helping good causes, few more so than the regular visitors on a Thursday evening to the Central Promenade at Withernsea.

Last Thursday almost 1,000 turned up for their regular run to the Castle Cafe and to support an auction in aid of Care After Combat, a UK-based charity providing support within the criminal justice system for the well-being of former British armed forces personnel and their families.

A large number of items had been donated by individuals, organisations and some of the bikers themselves.

Bidding was brisk – the top lot was a fishing holiday that went for £400 and, including donations and a collection, more than £2,000 was raised for the charity.
