Armed police were called to a Withernsea street after reports of a man seen carrying what appeared to be a large knife.
Police were called to Seathorne at about 9.50am on Tuesday, March 31. Officers from the Armed Response Unit were deployed and quickly located a man as he came out of the property.
After searching him, officers found a key to a van parked outside. A search of the van led to the discovery of a small amount of suspected drugs.
A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of class A drugs.
Humberside Police said no one was believed to have been injured or threatened during the incident, and that inquiries were continuing to establish the full circumstances and to recover the weapon believed to have been seen.
A police spokesman said: “Armed officers remain in attendance on Seathorne in Withernsea after we were called at around 9.50am this morning following reports of a man in the street carrying what was thought to be a large knife before entering a property.
“For the safety of the public, officers from our Armed Response Unit were immediately deployed and a man was swiftly located exiting the property.
“A 55-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of class A drugs and remains in police custody assisting with our ongoing inquiries at this time.”
