Young Tigers fans up for national award

A group of youngsters have been selected as finalists in the Football Content Awards, which aim to celebrate the best in online football media around the world.

Withernsea’s Corben Catt, along with his friends Marcus Skeet, Katie Russell and Sam Walker, run Tigers Newsroom, a Hull City social media site that features match scores, player stats and performances, as well as their own personal fan accounts.

So far, the teens have managed to clock in more than 800 followers across their social media channels. As a result of their dedication, they have been nominated for the Best Club Content Award in what have been dubbed “the Oscars of the football content industry”.

A spokesperson for the team said: “It’s not often that someone from Withernsea is selected as a finalist for a major prestigious award.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated and in with a chance of winning an amazing award – we’ve worked so hard to get here, so we’re delighted for this opportunity and are ever so grateful to our supporters and fans for helping us achieve this momentous goal. Up the Tigers!”

The awards ceremony, which will take place at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on November 16, will see the youngsters up against fans and organisations from across the UK.

The awards will be presented by players past and present including Gary Lineker, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.
