Young cricketers gear up for ‘momentous’ finals

Pupils at Thorngumbald Primary School are celebrating twice over after excelling both in the classroom and on the sports field.

The school has recently been rated Good by Ofsted, in what teachers say is testament to the school’s commitment to providing a high-quality education and nurturing environment for its students.

But the accolades do not end there. Youngsters from the school have also secured a place in the highly anticipated Y5/6 Open Dynamos Schools County Cricket Finals 2023.

A spokeswoman said: “This accomplishment highlights their exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.”

The finals, set to take place on Tuesday, July 4, promise an exciting showcase of talent as the finest young cricketers from schools across the county gather at Hunslet Nelson CC in Leeds. With the event scheduled during the school day, students from Thorngumbald Primary School will have the opportunity to display their cricket prowess in a competitive and spirited atmosphere.

The spokeswoman added: “The entire school community couldn’t be prouder of these young achievers and their hard work leading up to this momentous occasion.

“The support and guidance provided by the school’s staff and coaches have undoubtedly played a significant role in their success. As the final approaches, the school sends its best wishes to the team, hoping they will bring the coveted title back home.

“Thorngumbald Primary School has proven once again that with dedication, determination and a supportive environment, young individuals can achieve remarkable milestones.
