Ten-time women’s world darts champion Trina Gulliver will take on players at a Keyingham pub next month, with organisers hoping her visit will encourage more women to take up the sport.
The Ship Inn will host the exhibition on Saturday, October 3, at 7.30pm, when 16 locals will each face Trina in a single leg of 501.
The evening will also include a question-and-answer session, with opportunities to have photographs taken with her and collect autographs.
Lisa Porter-Forrester, one of the pub’s landladies, runs the committee for the local Tuesday night ladies’ darts league alongside her wife and several female customers.
Lisa said: “This is a particularly exciting event for us here at The Ship Inn.
“We are hoping that holding an event like this, especially starring the most successful ladies darts player in history, will encourage more women to take up the sport.”
Known as the Golden Girl, Trina won 10 British Darts Organisation women’s world titles and is a six-time World Masters champion. The former England captain is also a pundit, commentator and darts coach.
Trina said: “I’m looking forward to meeting everyone on the evening at The Ship Inn Keyingham on October 3. I love these events where people can join in and enjoy what will be an evening of fun and darts. It’s really nice to see so many people interested in darts.”
