Vintage tractors turn out to support Peter

A Leven man is undertaking the journey of a lifetime from John O’Groats to Lands’ End in a Little Grey Fergie tractor.

Peter Burdas, from Northfield Farm, in East Street, left John O’Groats on Sunday, June 4, and is due to arrive at Land’s End on Thursday, June 15. As part of his journey, he has planned his route to arrive in Leven on the evening of Friday, June 9, with a view to departing from the farm where he grew up as a boy.

Peter is raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, in memory of his mother, who suffered from the disease.

There will be a presentation at Leven Sports Hall at 9.15am on Saturday, June 10, before Peter leads a vintage tractor drive departing from the hall at about 9.30am. There will be 15 local enthusiast vintage tractor owners on a tour around the village before heading the convoy south to the Humber Bridge. On the south bank, Peter will be joined by other vintage tractor enthusiasts.

He said: “Please give us your support, as it is essential, and we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.”

To support Peter, visit a vantage point to watch the parade as it passes by through Leven via High Stile, New Inn, South Street, Westlands Way, The Meadows, Church Drive, West Street. Beverley Westwood, Walkington, Little Weighton and Occupation Lane, Swanland, from 9.30am.

He is expected to arrive at the Humber Bridge between noon and 12.30pm.
