Town’s play areas to benefit from £34,000 commuted sums funding

Hornsea Town Council has been awarded £34,000 from East Riding Council as part of commuted sums to install accessible equipment in play areas in the town.

The town council will also contribute £2,503.20 towards the £36,503.20 total project cost.

Two accessible roundabouts and access paths will be installed in Hall Garth Park and Jefferson Park play areas.

Joanna Richardson, clerk to Hornsea Town Council, said: “The town council would like to sincerely thank East Riding Council and North Holderness ward council members, Cllr Barbara Jefferson and Cllr John Whittle, for their support with this project.”

Cllr Gary McMaster, East Riding Council’s cabinet member for planning, housing and infrastructure, said: “I am very pleased that the award of commuted sums will be able to help with the installation of the all-inclusive play equipment and benefit the residents of Hornsea greatly.

“The addition of sensory play panels along the pathways will also be a good added extra. This award will make a real difference in Hornsea and will improve this area.”
