Three held after spate of reported burglaries

Police have made three arrests after a spate of suspected overnight burglaries in Hedon and the surrounding area.

Humberside Police said officers received several calls in the early hours of Friday, April 10, relating to incidents in Camerton, Thorngumbald and Hedon.

So far, the force said it had confirmed one house burglary, one attempted house burglary and one garage burglary, though more offences could come to light as residents check their properties.

Officers are appealing for anyone with CCTV or recording doorbells to check footage for suspicious activity between 2.45am and 5.25am.

The arrests came after police were called to Allured Garth in Hedon just before 5am following a report from a resident who had been disturbed by noises outside their property and then allegedly saw four people walking away from the area.

One of the individuals was reported to have been carrying what looked like bolt croppers.

Police said officers were immediately deployed and carried out a search of the area, before stopping a vehicle with three occupants who matched the description given by the caller.

A 17-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were all arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling with intent to steal.

While in custody, the 17-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs.

The 19-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and common assault of an emergency worker.

All three remained in custody on Friday assisting officers with their inquiries.

Police said officers would remain in the affected areas throughout the day as inquiries continued.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 64 of April 10. Residents can also request a free crime prevention survey of their home by calling 101 and asking to speak to the Hedon neighbourhood policing team.
