Seaside Soul to the rescue!

Organisers of a monthly Northern Soul night at Hornsea’s Floral Hall have presented the local independent lifeboat with their third donation so far.

Seaside Soul evenings have been taking place at the Floral Hall for the past nine years and the proceeds have been donated to a number of charities over that time.

These include Children’s Air Ambulance, BH Equine Rescue and Hornsea Inshore Rescue.

On Thursday they made their third donation, this time £600, to the charity, which is supported entirely by local donations and its own fundraising efforts. It is not part of any national organisation.

Presenting the donation on behalf of Seaside Soul, organiser Kai Rivers said: “We like to support local organisations, especially those who have no outside funding. Hornsea Inshore Rescue do such a fantastic job, are very professional even though they are all volunteers, and they have saved lots of lives.”

Receiving the donation, coxswain and trainer Rob Carthew thanked Kai and his team, saying: “We depend on donations such as these to keep the lifeboat in operation and it is especially appreciated as we are in the process of buying a new boat to keep us at the forefront of rescue operations.”
