Hedon’s new Explorer Scout unit is on the lookout for more adventure-seeking local teenagers following its successful launch in September.
A group of girls and boys aged 14-17 were welcomed to Hedon Scout Hut, where they took part in an action-packed evening sampling some of the 250-plus activities scouting has to offer, including an inflatable obstacle course, firelighting and s’mores, archery, tomahawk throwing, and paracord bracelet-making.
The unit now meets two Thursdays a month at the Scout Hut on Sheriff’s Highway. Guided by a dedicated team of volunteer leaders, members will master new skills and try activities they might not have the chance to do at home or school.
A spokesman said: “Whether you’re hiking to faraway lands or building a robot in your local town hall, you’ll have the freedom to choose what you’d like to do and work together with adults to make it happen. There are so many unmissable opportunities in the works for the rest of 2024 and beyond, from a hike and an escape room challenge to a Christmas night.”
There are also opportunities for adults to join as volunteer leaders. For more information, email [email protected].
