School bus in collision with tractor

A school bus has been involved in a collision with a tractor on the A1035.

Emergency services were in attendance after a crash involving an Ellie Rose double decker bus and a tractor pulling a tanker. The road between Breamer Lane and Main Street, Sigglesthorne, was closed as investigations were carried out.

It is understood that about 40 children were on the bus at the time of the incident. Nobody is thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries, but reports on social media suggested some had suffered suspected broken bones.

Hornsea School and Language College, whose pupils had been travelling on the bus, issued a statement on social media.

It said: “Following tonight’s incident involving the HS001 bus we would like to share our thanks to the students for their conduct in such challenging circumstances, and to the school staff and emergency services who assisted at the scene.

“Support will be available in school tomorrow for any students involved who have been affected by the accident, both those on the bus involved and those travelling on the buses behind who witnessed the incident.”
