Lewis Outing’s eyes light up with enthusiasm when describing how he captured the photographs that make up his exhibition at Hedon Museum.
It’s an apt emotional response, given that the exhibition is titled It’s All About the Light!
The photos that grace the walls of the upstairs exhibition room are all examples of being in the right place, at the right time of day, to maximise the effect of existing light – creating illuminated, picturesque treasures from otherwise mundane scenes. All feature local scenery from Hedon and the surrounding area, and have been taken in the 18 months since Lewis moved to Hedon from York.
Whether it is capturing the reflections of a setting sun in the slivers of a water channel at Paull Holme Strays, or managing to get a strawberry full moon sitting right atop Hedon Church, his photographs show that in a relatively short time, he has discovered the inner beauty of his new Holderness home.
The exhibition is well worth a visit and is sure to inspire budding photographers.
It’s All About the Light! is open every Saturday and Wednesday at Hedon Museum, from 10am to 4pm, until August 16. Admission is free.
