Man held over ‘kidnap’ incident in Hornsea

A man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and robbery after an incident in Hornsea.

Police received a call from a member of the public at about 9am on Thursday, March 20, saying that a man had entered a property in Ashcourt Drive.

An altercation is believed to have taken place inside, resulting in a 32-year-old man suffering injuries to his face and body.

The man is then believed to have threatened the 32-year-old and forced him out of his house to walk to a shop in Cliff Road.

Officers attended the scene and a 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of kidnap and robbery.

The 32-year-old man was taken to hospital to receive treatment to injuries which are thought to be serious.

Detective Inspector Mark Hawley said: “I understand an incident of this nature will be concerning for the local community. However, I would like to offer my reassurance that a man remains in our custody while investigations continue.

“From our inquiries carried out so far, we believe this incident to be between people known to each other.

“Local residents can expect to see an increased presence around the area to allow officers to conduct multiple lines of inquiry. If anyone has any concerns, please come and speak to them.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident, or may have video footage or witnessed anything, to please contact us on 101, quoting log 106 of March 20.”
