Members of a leading all-male choir are in the final stages of rehearsals for their return to Hornsea’s United Reformed Church next week.
Organisers say they want the concert on Friday, August 8, to “lift everyone’s spirits in a venue that has amazing acoustics”.
Formed in 1955, the Beverley Male Voice Choir have previously performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Philharmonic Hall, Manchester Arena, and in Germany. The choir celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.
The choir has a broad repertoire ranging from the Hallelujah Chorus to the popular hit from The Greatest Showman, A Million Dreams. Musical director Elizabeth Wilson has been in the role for 25 years and is looking forward to the production.
She said: “I love the rich tone the all-male choir can produce, it’s so impressive. I love what I do. I’ve been doing it for years.”
The professional delivery has the additional talent of international pianist Amy Butler.
She said: “It gives me a chance to play something different. I really enjoy it. The men are very good. It’s a lot of fun.”
The choir will be joined by the much-loved Pastiche on the night to raise funds for the Hornsea and District Lions Club.
Tickets for the concert are available from the Lions Shop in Hornsea or on the door.
