Major review into town parking

by John Prince

A long-awaited car parking review across Hornsea is live on the East Riding Council website, allowing people to put their suggestions forward about current parking and access issues across the town.

Hornsea has faced growing parking pressures in recent years, with concerns about availability, road safety and access for residents, visitors, businesses and essential services.

East Riding Council has said its resources are limited and it cannot carry out full town-wide parking reviews everywhere at once, making the survey an important first step in identifying where the most significant issues lie.

The survey asks people to pinpoint where parking problems occur, when they are most noticeable and what kind of difficulties they experience.

Responses will help the council – working with Hornsea’s elected representatives – highlight priority areas for further investigation and shape any future work, including possible traffic management or parking measures when resources allow.

The survey is open to residents, visitors, businesses and anyone who travels to Hornsea.

All responses are anonymous and will be analysed to build an overall picture of parking pressures across the town.

East Riding Council has said feedback from the public is vital in helping it understand local issues and plan future work.

North Holderness ward councillor Barbara Jefferson said: “At last the car parking review survey is good to go and is now live on the East Riding Council website.

“I hope that everyone will take the time to complete the survey, to enable us to have a comprehensive and detailed analysis of everyone’s thoughts, your issues and your ideas and suggestions for a way forward.”

Paper forms are also available for residents who might not have access to a computer or the internet.

Hard copies can be picked up at Hornsea Town Hall and Hornsea Hub. They are anonymous, and staff should be on hand to help anyone who might need assistance in completing them. Envelopes will be available.

The review is due to end on Tuesday, October 20.
