Location found for new banking hub

The location for Hornsea’s new banking hub has been confirmed.

Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, said the new would be located at Unit 2 in Newbegin, which was formerly occupied by Poundland.

The hub, when it opens, will offer banking services in the town for the first time since 2018.

There will be a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions, as well as a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own provider about more complicated issues, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank or building society available on each day of the week.

Mondays will be Barclays, Tuesdays will be Lloyds, with HSBC on Wednesday, NatWest on Thursday and Santander on Friday afternoons.

A Cash Access UK spokesman said: “Finding the right location for a banking hub that is convenient, accessible and works for everyone often takes time so Cash Access UK is delighted to have been able to secure a convenient premise within the heart of the community.

“The team at Cash Access UK are now working hard to fit out the new premises and will update the community on progress and an opening date as soon as they can.”

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “Following anticipation from the local community, I am glad that we are able to confirm the location of the forthcoming banking hub in Hornsea. The banking hub will greatly improve access to cash services for individuals and small businesses in the Hornsea community.”

Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, said: “I am delighted that the location of the new banking hub in Hornsea has been confirmed – the first in Beverley and Holderness.

“This will be a vital resource for many people in Hornsea, offering them convenient access
to cash and in-person banking services. I look forward to it opening soon.”
