Lions thank RNLI lifesavers

by Terry Bearpark

Each year many people take part in the Boxing Day Dip at Withernsea, organised by the Withernsea and District Lions Club.

The safety of dippers is important and cover is undertaken by volunteers from the RNLI and members of the local Coastguard team.

Last December some 80 people took part in the dip, raising cash for their own charities or organisations or for the Lions.

To show their appreciation for this valuable safety cover and to help with their respective charities the Lions make a donation to Withernsea Lifeboat and the Humber Branch of the Coastguard Association, the charity and welfare side of HM Coastguard.

At the last monthly meeting of the Lions cheques for £300 each were presented to the RNLI and CGA by Lion President John Earle.

The Lions are always on the lookout for new members. If interested, contact Lion Secretary Ernie Oldfield on 01964 623138.
