Lighthouse attracts the good weather

by Terry Bearpark

Despite a rain shower in the morning on Sunday, the Withernsea Lighthouse annual garden party maintained its record of having fine weather, much to the relief of organisers.

Throughout the afternoon there was a steady stream of visitors to support the event which raises cash to help provide equipment and support for the lighthouse museum.

It was organised by the Friends of the Withernsea Lighthouse and the committee, along with a band of volunteers, worked hard to provide plenty for visitors to do and see including stalls by individuals and charities as well as children’s games. Refreshments with cream scones were very much in demand and once again there was a first-class show by the Withernsea Pierrots who provided good old- fashioned entertainment for everyone.

The Friends now have an active committee but would welcome new members to join them – just pop into the lighthouse for details.
