Keen rider Oliver sets out on fundraising journey

By Rebecca Hannant

A 13-year-old boy from Roos is challenging himself to cover at least 50km on his horse while raising money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

In a bid to raise money and awareness for the charity, keen rider Oliver Cullen has pledged to go on a journey with Harry around Patrington, Roos, Hilston and Tunstall.

His mother Sarah Cullen said: “Oliver’s pony was very green when he got him – green in the horse world means doesn’t know a lot, still learning – and Oliver has spent the past few years training Harry and set themselves targets.”

Oliver and Harry will also be accompanied by Will, a young Shetland pony. Oliver has dedicated his time to training Will to become a therapy pony, and he will eventually visit elderly people in the area who require care and support, or those who are feeling isolated.
